About the Welcome Club of Scripps Ranch

The Welcome Club of Scripps Ranch is a social club open to all women of the Scripps Ranch community.

Scripps Ranch is one of the many communities of San Diego. It originated in the 1890s when E. W. Scripps, a newspaper tycoon, purchased 2,000 acres of land and named it Scripps Miramar Ranch. In the 1970s, Scripps Miramar Ranch was sold to developers who created a “Country Living Community” of upscale ranch houses, condominiums and parks. Among the first organizations to take root was the Welcome Wagon in 1981. It began with 12 charter members and a lot of enthusiasm. Over the years they compiled an impressive list of fundraisers, charities, and social functions.

When Welcome Wagon changed ownership in 1999, the members voted to re-establish the club as the Welcome Club of Scripps Ranch. The solidarity of both the community and the club were put to the test in 2003 when the Cedar fire burned over 300 homes in Scripps Ranch. Members of the Welcome Club volunteered countless hours to the Fire Victims Assistance Desk established by the Scripps Ranch Civic Association. It also supported the members of the club who had lost their homes.

As the community has grown, so has Welcome Club of Scripps Ranch. We now boast over 125 active members and are continually expanding the activities, philanthropy, and excitement of belonging to a vibrant organization. We invite you to be a part of it.
